1. Persuasive Essay (art in schools)What We Need
By: Anzueth Barela
After you read this essay you will know why we need more money for schools. Teachers should be able to more money on the classroom. We should have more schools with fewer kids. We need more money so teachers won’t get pink slips and lose their jobs. Also we should have more school assemblies.
First of all teachers should be able to get more money to spend on the kids. One of the reasons is so that the kids can learn better. Another reason is that teachers have no money to start with. The teachers can take the kids on field trips so the kids can learn about history, animals, etc. Last they know what we need for school.
Second we should have more schools with less kids. The students have more one on one time with the kids. Kids are more focused on schoolwork with less kids. For example my school only has 47 kids and I like it better than 1,000 kids. I like schools with fewer kids because kids have more learning time and teachers have more teaching time.
Last, are more school assemblies. School assemblies can help us learn about many different teachings. They can also help us learn about the different causes in the world. More school assemblies can help students be more cautious and not do drugs. Different assemblies like award assemblies we should have more of so when the kids get an award they feel good about themselves and do better in school.
In conclusion I’m not just speaking for my school I’m speaking for all the kids California and we need more money, don’t you think?

3. Response to Literature
Slam! By: Walter Dean MyersIn this book the main character Slam (Greg Harris) shows that if you change schools and friends you can really change a lot. Like a lot of people the character has a life changing experience. This book talks about a teenager who can compare to a lot of teenagers and tweens. In the beginning of the story Slam moves schools. He used to go Carver high school, which was a ghetto school to some people, and now he goes to Latimer high school, which is in a nice neighborhood. Once he starts going to Latimer he is not doing so well in school. Slam goes to a different social structure were he doesn’t fit in and doesn’t have any friends. It also doesn’t help that his dad is an alcoholic and his younger brother Derrick is a troublemaker and has more mouth then he has back up. A lot of teens and tweens could relate to Slam’s home life.Towards the end of the book Slam has more friends because he joined the basketball team and feels more confident about himself. He has good grades now because Mtisha and some teachers tutored him. His basketball team wins the championship game and all the kids at school say good job and well done even the people he didn’t know. Slams brother is not a troublemaker anymore and his dad drinks less all because Slam moved schools and got new friends. In the end Slam feels more confident about himself. He gets through all the hard things happening in his life. This book shows that even if you are not happy with your life one little thing can change that. The last paragraph of the book he is playing a one on one with Jimmy and slam says in the last sentence “He had ran into somebody to strong, He ran into Slam’s.

4. Autobiographical Incident (problem that you confronted)
Moving Is HardMoving is hard and I should know, I left my whole life somewhere but I made a new one here. Two years ago I moved to San Diego I used to live in the Imperial Valley, California. I was really angry and but mostly unhappy because I didn’t want to leave my school. But most of all I didn’t want to leave my friends. The reason why we had to move was because my mom worked n San Diego and she had to keep traveling to and from. So she decided that we would move. Of course I didn’t want to leave, my whole life was there. But my mom didn’t care. My big sister and me took it hard and my little sister really didn’t care because she was only in second grade. It took us a week to pack. When we were finally done packing up the moving truck and saying by to our friends we left. We drove for two hours it was really mundane. But once we got to our new house I was kind of getting a little more cheerful. When we moved it was in the middle of September so we had couple of weeks to unpack and get to know the neighborhood. When we were finally unpacked. We figured out that my mom’s old best friend from high school lived not even a block away from us so we were relieved that we new someone. We only lived three blocks from the school. So that meant that my sister and me had to walk to school. On the first day of school I was so nervous. I didn’t know anyone. But by recess time I made one friend she was new to and her name is Shana, and to this day we are still good friends. The next day of school I made more friends. Eventually, I was having fun at school and I made a lot more friends. From then on I new that I was going to have a wonderful life in San Diego.
