33 John Daniels

I chose Horace Mann to be on my negative dollar bill becuase he made schools what they are today. Without proper education for everyone the nation would be destroyed. Educated people invent new technologies. If construction workers didn't go to school we would have no homes to live in. Horace Mann did America a great favor.


Historic Figures on Currency
John Daniels

George Washington- George Washington led America to victory in the Revolutionary War. He became our first president and he started the country. He stated in his Fairwell Address to stay away from political parties and foreign countries.

Thomas Jefferson- He was in one of the two political parties. He also was the author of the Declaration of Independence. He greatly increased the size of our country by the Louisiana Purchase.

Abraham Lincoln- Lincoln was our sixteenth president. He was the President during the Civil War. He wanted to abolish slavery so he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. Then he was later assassinated.

Hamilton- He was the leader of the opposing party against Thomas Jefferson. Though he didn’t become president he was made Secretary of the Treasury. Then he created the National Bank.

Andrew Jackson- Andrew Jackson was the seventh president. He was more of a people’s president. He gained fame by defending New Orleans from the British. As president he took land from the Indians. He also destroyed the National Bank to help the common people.

Garfield- James Garfield was the twentieth president. He was a Northern General in the Civil War. He was in Congress for seventeen years.

Benjamin Franklin- Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers. He invented many things and found ways to use electricity. He served in Congress for a long time.

Susan B Anthony- Susan B. Anthony was a civil rights leader. She work to get women’s rights. She traveled all over the country giving speeches. She died before women could vote.

Sacagawea- She lead Lewis and Clark on their journey across America. Without her Lewis and Clark probably wouldn’t have made it.
